The Long Term Sustainability Test

The long term sustainability test is a test to see if legislation will be an improvement for BC and all British Columbians.

Legislation must pass three areas of Long-Term Sustainability. The legislation must be Economically Sustainable, Environmentally Sustainable, and Socially Sustainable

Economically Sustainable
In order for legislation to be economically sustainable it must make sense fiscally. It must increase the overall utility of British Columbians and be able to survive long term with out increased funding on a yearly basis.

Environmentally Sustainable
In order for legislation to be environmentally sustainable it must not allow the environment to be degraded to a point that it can not be reclaimed. It must not cause permanent damage to the environment and must not decrease the biodiversity of BC.

Socially Sustainable
In order for legislation to be socially sustainable it must allow British Columbians to become healthy and must not encourage unhealthy behaviour. As well it must encourage the building of community while maintaining the positive development of society.
