Hello everyone. My name is James Filippelli and I am the founder of Your Political Party of BC (YPP-of-BC or YPP) and I would like you to know more about myself and YPP and of its conception as opposed to joining an existing party.

YPP was born from a personal vision of ideals that no other party has yet to offer. I had a vision of YOU and YOUR interests for a better BC vs. any political parties’ vision or ideals that may be elected. YPP strongly believes that BC can be better if we work together vs. you the people being led according to a political party dictate.

I have lived in Port Moody-Westwood for the past twelve years and have enjoyed growing up there. I attended Anmore Secondary School, Moody Junior School and I graduated from Gleneagle Secondary School.

After graduating I spent a year living in Whistler and since my return to Port Moody-Westwood I have taken numerous post-secondary courses.

I am partially responsible for organizing a number of pub crawls that have provided local young adults with a safe ride to and from distant entertainment establishments. As well I am involved with an unofficial organization that interacts with the homeless people on the downtown eastside in an attempt to determine some of the reasons behind their homelessness.

As the founder of "Your Political Party of BC" I strongly believe in decreasing your tax burden by spending your existing tax dollars in the most effective manner possible. (More benefits for less dollars)

YPP believes that the budget should be public as well as all Government contracts to ensure you can see exactly where your tax dollars are going.

Many people have asked me why I decided to form a new political party, rather then join an existing one.

My answer is that I have followed politics in BC as far back as I can remember and never have I been happy with any of the options.

I believe that NONE of the existing parties truly represent the issues which I feel are in the best interest of British Columbians.

My interests are for a small, accountable government, focused on ensuring that we can meet the needs of today without compromising the needs of future generations yet to come.

As the ancient Chinese Philosopher Confucius said, “It is better to light one small candle then to complain about the darkness.”

I believe that:

- A government that respects your tax dollars will spend your tax dollars as effectively as possible.

- A government that respects you as a person, and understands that you are contributing your hard earned money, is one that will ensure you have a strong future.

- A sound and honest government will let you have input on all the major decisions/projects your money goes to support.

- I strongly believe in town hall style meetings that would allow all members of a riding the opportunity to be informed, as well as to have input, so as to enable their elected representative to better serve them.

As John F. Kennedy once wrote, “… in democracy, every citizen regardless of his interests in politics,’ holds office’; every one of us is in a position of responsibility; and the final analysis, the kind of government we get depends upon how we fill those responsibilities.”

"Remember, the future of YOUR BC is in YOUR hands…" James Filippelli, YPP Leader and Founder.
